Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you that the buck above owned and bred by you has qualified for the ADGA Sire Development Program (ADGA-SDP). According to performance records, he has a calculated Estimated Transmitting Ability (ETA) of 6 for Production over Type (2:1) and 13 for Type over Production (1:2). 

The ADGA Sire Development Program is designed for the benefit of breeders and we would like your participation. By encouraging the “proving” of this buck while he is still young, the breed will benefit from the resulting performance data generated by his progeny. This will increase the reliability of his genetic evaluation and in addition, allow for the calculation of his sons and daughters ETA’s. You can do this by suggesting the guidelines below.

1. Use your buck through both artificial insemination and natural service, to generate a proof. 

Place as many of his daughters in herds that participate in DHIR Production Testing and ADGA Linear Appraisal as possible. More daughters in different herds will help reduce the effect of management and environmental influences on your buck’s PTI’s.

2.  To enable Production and Type data to be gathered early in his life, freshen as many of his yearling daughters as possible. The minimum requirement to create a PTI score for your buck is; five daughters on DHIR test and one that is Linear Appraised. Higher reliability is achieved if those daughters are in multiple herds. This is sufficient to get an initial indication of a buck’s genetic ability. 

3.  Realizing that the only input for ETA calculations comes through the DHIR Production Testing program and the ADGA Linear Appraisal program, encourage herds containing his daughters to participate in both performance programs. This will generate the needed data to both “prove” him and supply data with which to evaluate the next generation.

As data is gathered, an animal’s ETA values may change.  Bucks are evaluated for type and production from data provided to us by the USDA.  The current calculated ETA values are from the 11/09 yield and11/09 type evaluations which for your buck appear on his extended pedigree just below his name.

With the above methods, and through the USDA Sire Summaries, your buck’s true production and type transmitting abilities can be known by the time he is three years-old. If, in fact, he turns out to be as good or better than his current ETA indicates, he will still be young enough to have quality semen collected and/or be used naturally on many does. We hope that you will take an active part in helping your herdsire reach his genetic potential.

2009 NAILE Best Udder in Show and Grand Champion Saanen

SGCH Tradewinds RL Veronica’s is bred to Lucky for April kids.  Kids will be $1000.  One buck is reserved.

SGCH Tradewinds Lucky’s Valerie is bred to Mic for April kids.  Kid price is $600. Two bucks are reserved. One doe is reserved.

SGCH Tradewinds RL Polly did not get bred this year so she will be milking through.

GCH Tradewinds RL Vicenta is bred to Lucky for March kids.  Kid price is $600. Two bucks are reserved. One doe is reserved.

GCH Tradewinds MOW Victoria Secret is bred to Ralph for March  kids.  All does will be retained.  Buck kid price is $600. One buck is reserved.

Tradewinds Lucky’s Annabelle is bred to Tradewinds Sun Verizon for March kids.  Kid price is $300.

Tradewinds Shamus Pandora is bred to Ralph for April kids.  Kid price undetermined at this time until mammary of Pandora is evaluated.

Tradewinds Shamus Pipit is bred to Ralph for March kids.  Kid price undetermined at this time until mammary of Pipit is evaluated.

Both Pandora and Pipit have their dry legs.  Pandora was BJDIS as a kid in 2008 and in 2009 was also BJDIS both wins at the Sandwich Fair.  She won over 260 Junior Does at Sandwich.

Pictured above is GCH Tradewinds RL Sabrina who was Grand Champion Saanen at the North American International Livestock Exposition(NAILE) in Louisville, KY in November 2008.  Sabrina also went on to be BDIS, BUIS and was part of the Best Three Females In Show that also included GCH Tradewinds RL Vicenta and SGCH Tradewinds RL Polly.  All three does are daughters of our Senior Herdsire Willow-Brook Designer R Lauren.  Sabrina was sold in September 2009 but still remains one of my favorites.

Victory was a very special doe in the Tradewinds herd.She is the daughter of, Singing-Spruce CSP Victory Lap who I bought from Claudia Johnson as a yearling. V Lapwas littermate to Claudia’s Vash. Victory had 14XBIS and milked a “ton”. She did it all as well as being my very favorite. The day she died was a difficult one for me. Her daughter, SGCH Tradewinds RL Veronica, is now makingher own mark in the show ring. Tradewinds Gambler’s Luckand Tradewinds RL Victory’s Legacy are Victory’s sons thatremain in my herd to carry on her line.

April was our own first finished champion(Tradewinds). April lived to almost 16 years of age, probably because she wasn’t bred each year. She never had an easy time of kidding. Her daughter, GCH Tradewinds Paramount Angelica was much like her dam in General Appearance but excelled April in the Mammary System.

Angie excelled in General Appearance being very level and had a well attached Mammary System. She loved to be shown and although her life was cut short having a DA she had 16XBIS. The highlight of her show career was being 1st Place Five Year Old at the 1996 National Show in Springfield, IL.
